US Online Poker Gets Strong Supporters In Reid, Wynn and PokerStars

Wynn Resorts recently declared its association with PokerStars, the casino giant, with a view to aid the federal online gaming legislation existent in the US. Steve Wynn, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Wynn had been approached with a PokerStars-Wynn partnership over 2 years ago but had no inclination towards online poker and so did not pursue it. Wynn was approached by Isai Scheinberg, the founder of PokerStars and despite a three hour proposal put forward by the online casino head, Wynn had no interest. He did however become curious and begin to look into the online poker sector. It was only when Senator Harry Reid came forward with the idea of regulating online poker, that Wynn go on the bandwagon. Today, Wynn is able to admit that ever since the inception of the Unlawful Internet Gaming Enforcement Act (UIGEA) in 2006, there has been confusion regarding the future of both the gaming websites and their credibility. Talks have been going on for a while now, said Steven Wynn and according to him, even if such a bill is passed and comes in to action subsequent to this partnership, both the parties will remain unaffected or minimally affected. A confident Wynn believes that the partnership is geared towards protecting the business from the legislation which is expected to be passed anytime in the near future. Reid can be commended for his somewhat indirect role in creating the partnership between Wynn Resorts and PokerStars. According to the terms of the agreement, if the federal legislation approve of the bill passed by Congressman John Campbell and this sees it actually incorporated and materialized officially, the association of both the online poker entities will come into play by developing a new poker website called PokerstarsWynn.com. The online poker community in the Us can now look forward to having three strong champions moving to make internet gaming regulated. Currently, PokerStars is persistently trying and making an effort to penetrate through an intrastate bill in Nevada, a state which gives way for American players to receive a license and generate player liquidity along with other regulated jurisdictions. Richard Perkins, Pokerstars’ legislative lobbyist said that a complete federal solution will be more fruitful than the state by state regulation. “Do any of you really think a federal solution is close at hand?” he asked. “Through AB258 – those behind the bill would hope to put Nevada back in its rightful place at the top of the industry both terrestrially and online,” he added.
