New Mets Owner, David Einhorn, Has Poker Skills

As you may have recently read, 43-year-old hedge fund wunderkind, David Einhorn, recently became a minority owner of the New York Mets. What you might not have heard is that his love of sports goes beyond baseball and includes one of our favorite games poker. Of particular interest is that he seems to be pretty good at it too. You might even remember seeing him on ESPN’s WSOP coverage back in 2006 when he was eliminated from the Main Event in 18th place right between poker pros, Jeff Lisandro and Prahlad Friedman, and cashing for an impressive $660,000.

WSOP – The Richest Sporting Event in the World

Every year thousands of players play in WSOP events in Vegas in hopes of cashing in on their poker skills (and luck). While calling it a sporting event may be a bit of a stretch, one thing is for sure there is no shortage of cash at the World Series of Poker.

With all the developments in online poker recently, it will be interesting to see the turnout at the 2011 WSOP. On April 15th, the US DOJ seized control of Full Tilt Poker and PokerStars domain names. The sites eventually reached an agreement for release of their domains, but they were forced to pull out of the US market. Since then, many other domains and bank accounts have been seized by the US DOJ.

Furious US Poker Players Protest On Capitol Hill

After the FBI seized 10 more poker sites and shut them down, several furious and frustrated groups of US poker players marched on to Capitol Hill at a rally for protesting against the poker indictments in April.

According to a former Senator of New York, US poker players are concerned about losing their rights! Important poker groups and several poker players had gathered at the event which was organized by Alfonse D’Amato, who is the chairman of the Poker Players Alliance. He says that it is about what the government is trying to control in people’s homes.

Grand Slam of Slots Tournament 2 Coming to an End

The final phase of the Grand Slam of Slot Tournament 2 has begun. There will be some exciting days ahead for those who are entering into the final phase of this exciting online casino slots tournament.

Doyle Exits DoylesRoom; the Latest on Black Friday

A lot has been happening in the online poker world lately, thanks to the U.S. Department of Justice’s April 15 crackdown on online poker. If you haven’t been following the news, you should — especially if you’re based in the U.S.

Meanwhile, one of the most striking casualties of this crackdown in the U.S. is the exit of poker legend Doyle Brunson from his own website, DoylesRoom.com.

Brunson’s exit is widely believed to be an effort to distance himself from online poker should the federal authorities decide to expand their present crackdown.
